During the ALA Midwinter meeting in Seattle this year, Edie Ching spoke about the beauty of picture books.   Edie, the former middle school librarian at St. Alban’s School for Boys, now teaches children’s literature at the University of Maryland. In a video conversation produced by Candlewick Press as part of its Reading Starts Here series, Edie calls picture books a “snapshot of life,” that can be shared on many levels between a parent and a child:
