Books and authors galore!  Check out the  annual National Book Festival at the Washington Convention Center.  Throughout the day, six local authors--Lulu Delacre, Blanche Dudley, Jacqueline Jules, Erica Perl, Ann Marie Stephens, and Madelyn Rosenberg--will be reading from new picture books at the Washington Post booth downstairs, close to the signing line.

Karen Leggett, Wendy Shang, Madelyn Rosenberg, L.M. Elliott and Jennifer O’Connell will be speaking at the VAASL (Virginia Association of School Librarians) in Norfolk at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott.

Sue Fliess will be a panelist at the SCBWI Mid-Atlantic Fall Conference in Sterling, Virginia.
November 1
At the Library of Congress Coolidge Auditorium, Jefferson Building, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m., the Young Readers Center (YRC) sponsors the official launch of "The Diary of A Wimpy Kid: Double Down" (book #11), with Jeff Kinney, one the most successful authors of children’s literature in the world, who will be visiting the Library of Congress Coolidge Auditorium, followed by a book signing at 11:00am. The public is invited, with limited seating so early arrival is advised. For questions contact the YRC at 202-707-1950.
