Fee: Single 30-minute Presentation: $300
Additional Presentations at same location on same day: $100/each
(Maximum five 30-minute presentations/day)

Single 45-minute presentation: $350
Additional 45-minute presentations at same location on same day: $150/each
(Maximum four 45-minute presentations/day)

Travel fees apply out of DC/MD/VA metro area

Full day fee for out-of-state schools, not including travel expenses: $1000
(includes up to five 30-minute presentations)
Availability: Preschool through grade 5

Possible presentations include When Writing Meets Math; Using Fables and Fairytales to Jumpstart the Creative Process; How Picture Books Are Born; Adventures in Science Writing; How to Write a Boring Book (and how to avoid accidentally writing one); Studying Series; and It’s Perfect!  Now Fix It! (about the revision process). I also have presentations centered around each of my books.

I am happy to work with teachers, librarians, and conference organizers to develop a program that fits your needs.

Possible add-ons include arranging a writing contest for elementary age students in advance of my visit, with a brown-bag author lunch for the winners on the visit day, and craft activities for preschoolers.

Features: As a former drama teacher, magazine editor, and science writer, I make sure all of my presentations are fun and interactive as well as educational.  I use writing games, drawing games, theater games, and silly props to get kids thinking, participating…and laughing.
